The next option is external USB hard drives - these start in the 60GB range and are available in sizes over 1TB. After that then you're looking at a second internal hard drive that's dedicated to data backup - the sky is almost the limit when it comes to the amount of storage space you can choose here.

That deals with your local backup options but keeping only local backups of your data really isn't a good idea. It only takes one lightning strike, flood or small fire and you'll lose all your backups either way. Using some kind of online backup service isn't optional - it's something you should be using if you really take your data backup seriously. Online backup tools usually schedule the backups for you so even if you forget to follow your normal backup routine the online service will backup your data anyway. Do yourself a favor and don't just rely on one type of backup device or system - make sure you use at least 2 e.g. an external USB drive and an online backup facility. At least then you'll have full peace of mind.

Windows Password Reset - How to "Hack" or "Reset" Your Windows Password If You Forgot It

If you've lost or forgotten the password to your Windows computer, there's hardly anything more frustrating. However, the good news is that you can actually get back into your PC without losing any data, by "resetting" the stored password that your system has. This technique used to be only for computer technicians, but has now become popular thanks to the release of several software programs which can fix the issue on your PC.

"Resetting" the Windows password is all about changing the stored information that's on your system to allow you to log in again. The problem is that when you try and login to your PC, Windows is actually checking your inputted password with one that's stored on your hard drive. Every Windows computer stores passwords in the same way - in that they keep a series of stored files & settings on your hard drive with the password inside. This means that if the password you submit to your PC is not the same as the password stored on your hard drive, your computer will just deny you access.

The way to get back into your system, without causing any damage or loss of data, is to use what's known as a "password reset" program to remove the stored password settings on your PC. By removing the stored password data on your system, you will basically remove the various settings that Windows uses to check your inputted password against, tricking it into thinking that there is not password set up on your system. If you want to get access to your PC again, resetting (often called "hacking", or "removing") the Windows password is by far the most un-intrusive & effective way to do it.

You can reset the Windows password of your PC easily by first downloading a password reset program from the Internet onto a PC you have access to (such as this one). This will then install a third-party piece of software onto your system which will basically allow you to create a "bootable CD", which you then need to insert into your locked PC. This bootable CD will load up before Windows, and then remove all the stored password data that's kept on your system before Windows loads up. Because all versions of Windows (including Win7) have the same files & settings for their passwords, this method will basically remove the stored password settings for any system, allowing you to log in again after a quick restart. Workflow

Retrieval describes the process by which documents are taken out of storage. Simple document retrieval will usually be possible by the user entering a specific, unique document identifier, where the system will be able to retrieve the document using a basic index. But there are more flexible means of retrieval available within certain document management software packages. The user may specify partial search terms, either involving the document identifier, or information from the metadata (see later). This would typically retrieve a list of all those documents which match the user's search terms. Some systems even provide the capability of searching by a 'Boolean' expression, which may contain multiple keywords or example phrases that would be expected to found within the document's contents.

Metadata
Metadata is certain key data extracted from, based on or relating to the contents of a document. For example, metadata relating to a specific document may be the date on which it was stored within the document management system or the name of the author of that document. Document management systems will often automatically extract metadata from a document or prompt a user to enter metadata when storing a document in the document management system. Metadata can then be used in indexing documents within the system and conversely when a user is attempting to locate one.
